Kingdumb Oozes Zest With ‘JDM’

@ Redhouse Photography

Kingdumb heads down a new path with his latest release, 'JDM'. It is a creative direction for the British Hip Hop musician, and he proves his talent instantly. He is an artist who is not afraid to delve away from the status quo, and he smashes it with him taking the listener on a memorable journey.

Finding stimulus from sounds originating in Asia, Kingdumb takes a Japanese influence, fusing it into a modern hip hop mix. It is spurring to hear an artist do their own thing, and he does just that. Also, his vocals are engaging, and his rap bars flow with confidence. Additionally, he gets his message across well, speaking about cruising in his 'JDM' (Japanese Car). Likewise, he gives us an insight into his lifestyle and by the sounds of it, he lives the best life.

Musically, the structure is unorthodox, and it regularly changes, which keeps the excitement alive. Also, it is one of those tracks where anything could work. Furthermore, sounds appear, which are unexpected, and it creates an unpredictable path that is gripping. Nevertheless, the female vocal is impossible to interpret unless you can speak Japanese. Therefore, she could be saying anything, but she sounds good, and her delivery adds to the track's theme.

Towards the latter, the lead sounds take a step back, only popping out briefly and the punchy bass and beat rhythm guide the way to the finish line with resilience. It leaves a strange but interesting memory of the adventure, and it influences a tap of the replay button for another fix.
